Robbin Simmons

Robbin Simmons is an American Emmy Award-winning news anchor born in Chicago. She is a reporter and an anchor at WSVN-TV. She is also a co-anchor for the weekend editions of 7 NEWS at 5, 6, & 10.[1]

Robbin Simmons started her career at WSVN as a general assignment reporter.

She spent three years at WSVN and was quickly promoted to Saturday morning weekend anchor.

During her time at WSVN, she covered various news, everything from the Elian Gonzalez saga, Timothy McVeigh’s execution, and the 2000 Presidential election.

In 2004 she left WSVN for WDIV-TV Detroit, where she was an anchor and reporter for several years. She eventually returned to WSVN-TV where she covered the 2009 Presidential Inauguration and in March 2014, traveled to Vatican City for President Barack Obama’s visit to Pope Francis. Robbin together with Joe Roetz is a co-anchor for the weekend editions of 7News at 5, 6 and 10pm.

Personal

She was born in Chicago. She studied Italian in high school and college, she became in love with the language after traveling to Italy while still in high school.

Robbin earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern University. She is married and has two children. She speaks both English and Italian.[5]

One person has died following a boat crash near Miami Beach. Twenty-six-year-old (26) Diego Becerra died after being ejected from one of the vessels. Miami Beach Police and Fire Rescue units responded to the scene near Star Island and Monument Island, sometime before 9 p.m., Tuesday. Paramedics transported another patient to Mount Sinai Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening. Officials said a man who called for help in the crash said his son went missing after the crash.
