In September 2008, Burton started Hoodeasy to make it easier for groups to order customized clothing. He also started a spin-off project called Nudge to make it easier for people to follow up with customers with whom they lost touch.
In 2012, Burton took it upon himself to study Ruby on Rails and started a freelancing career as a developer. he worked at BANKIO Labs, a cable television company that enables people to accept mobile payments from their customers. He also worked for Woodhouse Clothing to create an e-commerce dashboard which provides interesting information from Google Analytics.
Later in his career, he became a web designer. He was eventually introduced to cryptocurrency and worked on the Ethereum blockchain. He developed some of the early concepts for a blockchain browser and dApp store .
In the fall of 2012, Richard Burton worked at Stripe.
In September 2015, Richard Burton became CEO of Balanced Software, a blockchain company in the U.K. that makes web and mobile applications to help people interact with the open source financial system. In September 2017, they raised $1.2 million through equity crowdfunding.
