Rich Brian is a rapper from Jakarta, Indonesia. He was born Brian Imanuel on September 2, 1999 and started learning English at the age of 12 by watching YouTube videos. He was home schooled as a kid.

In February of 2016, Rich Chigga released the song Dat $tick to wide acclaim and scorn. He says he is half serious and half joking in the song. The video has since gone viral.

Rich Chigga's influences are A$AP Rocky, Post Malone, and Keith Ape and has stated he would love to collab with Father (Rapper) or Lil Uzi Vert.

On October 12, Rich Chigga released a remix of Dat $tick featuring Pouya and Ghostface Killah.

Brian then changed his rapping persona to Rich Brian from Rich Chigga after visiting his hometown in Indonesia. He claimed he did not want to be seen as a racial joke.^[28]
