Reza Malek is a Vascular surgeon.

Education

Dr. Malek completed medical school at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in 1991 and continued his internship and a diagnostic radiology residency at the Medical Center of Delaware, a Thomas Jefferson University affiliate. He completed a cardiovascular and interventional fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School in 1997.

Career

Dr. Malek was the chief of Interventional Radiology at Riverside Community Hospital and St. Mary's Regional Medical Center for five years.

He also was an assistant clinical professor at University of California Irvine Medical Center.

In 2001, Dr. Malek as acting Chief of Interventional at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center continued as a part-time fellow in Neurointerventional Radiology.

In 2003 Dr. Malek completed another year of fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery at University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Malek has finished a masters degree program in Neurovascular Diseases from SUD university of Paris under one of pioneers of the field Professor Pierre Lasjunias.

As the Co-founder of Minimally Invasive Surgical Solutions he was the first physician to bring endovascular Neurosurgery and endovascular treatments of Stroke to San Jose.

He has developed one of the busiest stroke programs in the country.

Dr. Malek specializes in all aspects of peripheral and brain vascular diseases and is active in teaching, research, and publishing in the field.

He has been a lecturer, moderator and faculty at many National and Internetional conferences.

He is an advisor, investor and boardmember of many medical device and healthcare related companies.

He was the Chief Medical Officer at BaseHealth.

Dr. Malek founded Vitagene, a personalized supplement recommendation engine based on users health profile, Genetics, laboratory values and other risk factors, in September 2013.

Personal Life

Dr. Malek is married to Bita Daryabari, the previous wife of Google executive Omid Kordestani. Julio Iglesias performed at the couple's wedding. [undefined]
