Reynad (Andrey Yanyuk)

Andrey Yanyuk, aka Reynad, is a professional Hearthstone player, Twitch.tv streamer, and owner of the eSports organization, **** Tempo Storm. [9] An aficionado of trading card games, Yanyuk also spent much of his youth playing Magic: The Gathering professionally as well as poker. Since the closed beta of Hearthstone in 2013, Yanyuk has consistently been a leading and controversial figure in the professional scene and greater community.

Early Life

Born in the Ukraine in 1991, Yanyuk moved to Minnesota when he was six years old with his mother and sister. [10] He began playing games from an early age, frequenting his friends' and neighbors' video game consoles. His interests led him to briefly consider a career as a game developer. During a visit to Ukraine at age 15, Yanyuk was introduced to Magic: The Gathering and became immediately hooked. Upon his return to the US, he quickly became involved in the local tournament scene, often opting to skip class and spend time at the card shop. Failing to meet the credit requirements for a diploma, Yanyuk opted to leave home and make a living playing card games.

Yanyuk discovered Twitch.tv and began streaming Magic, becoming one the game's top streamers by the end of 2012.

Unable to support himself exclusively through streaming, Yanyuk spent time as a Jimmy John's delivery driver in order to supplement his meager ad revenue. [11]

Yanyuk stepped away from Magic after a controversial public spat with Wizards of the Coast and switched over to streaming Hearthstone. His viewership immediately spiked, enabling him to quit his delivery job and stream full-time. In addition, Yanyuk became a meme within the growing community after his invention of numerous deck archetypes, including a particularly infamous deck called "zoolock".

In May 2014, Yanyuk formed the eSports organization, Tempo Storm.

Initially composed of small Hearthstone team, it has expanded to other popular eSports such as Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, and Super Smash Bros. Melee. As CEO and owner, Yanyuk reduced the amount of time he dedicated towards professional competition and streaming in order to properly grow and develop his organization.
