Reuben Troyer is an American retired repair technician who is known as the father of the late actor, Verne Troyer. [undefined] [1] [undefined] Troyer was an Amish man who decided to leave the church with his family and start a new life. [undefined]
Biography
Troyer was born in the state of Michigan to Amish parents and lived in the area of Centreville for most of his life. [undefined] [undefined] His education, values, and way of life were of the Amish religion and belief system. He learned many of his repairman skills as a young man under Amish guidance. [undefined] [undefined]

He married Susan when they were still young adults and have had three children together in the late 1960s.
[undefined] Their children are Verne, Davon, and their daughter Deborah. [undefined] When Verne was a child, he almost died until his father, Reuben, discovered that he was unconscious and turning blue. [undefined] He was able to take him to the hospital in time to get treatment. Verne, was born on January 1st, 1969 and passed away on April 21st, 2018. [1]
Years after founding their family, he Troyers decided to leave the Amish as Reuben felt there were limiting factors that would impact his children. [undefined] Another reason was that his experience with the Amish is that they were hypocritical people. [undefined]
The family moved to a farm in the town of Sturgis and held themselves as unit. [undefined] Reuben instilled his children the same disciplines that were instilled as a person who was once part of the Amish faith. Everyone had tasks to do on the farm. [undefined]
Career

After leaving the Amish lifestyle and the religion, Reuben worked an array of different jobs in the state of Michigan.
He would go on to work as a repair technician for decades.
He is now retired.

Reuben has appeared in several of his son Verne's social media content along with Television segments later in his son's acting career.
[undefined] During Verne's life, Reuben was always a supportive individual to his son's acting career in Hollywood.
Death of Verne Troyer
Days after the death of his son, Verne, who died on April 21st, 2018, Reuben was photographed along with other relatives who were visiting his son's property in Los Angeles.
Reuben, along with the rest of the family, left a statement about Verne:
"Verne was an extremely caring individual.
He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh.
Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible.
Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked towards spreading that message every day.
He inspired people around the world with his drive, determination, and attitude.
On film & television sets, commercial shoots, at comic-con's & personal appearances, to his own YouTube videos, he was there to show everyone what he was capable of doing.
'Even though his stature was small and his parents often wondered if he'd be able to reach up and open doors on his own in his life, he went on to open more doors for himself and others than anyone could have imagined.
He also touched more people's hearts than he will ever know.
Verne was also a fighter when it came to his own battles.
Over the years he's struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought some more, but unfortunately this time was too much.
'During this recent time of adversity he was baptized while surrounded by his family.
The family appreciates that they have this time to grieve privately.
Depression and Suicide are very serious issues.
You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside.
Be kind to one another.
And always know, it's never too late to reach out to someone for help.

Reuben and Verne were close.
Reuben never treated Verne the same as his other son and daughter, and taught him to be optimistic about life.
