Wang was born and raised in rural China. Wang attended Peking University, from which she graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Mathematical Statistics and where she also taught herself how to code. [1]
Career
Wang began her career at Umeng in Beijing, where she worked as both a frontend engineer and business developer from 2010 to 2011. In 2011 Wang joined the staff of Google as an Account Manager based in Tokyo, Japan. During her commutes to and from Google's office, Wang listened to podcasts to improve her English and Japanese language skills, but found the process of searching for new audio content to be very frustrating. To that end, Wang left Google in 2015 to found Castbox, where she presently serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and sold her house in Beijing to provide the initial funding. [1]
