Renate Verhoofstad

Renate Verhoofstad born September 16, 1973 in Waalwijk. She is a Sports Expert and Editor-in-chief. She is Dutch and a regular columnist of AD Sportwereld and collaborator of the literary cycling magazine De Muur. Renate is also directing and researching a travel series in Italy for the VPRO and she is a sports panel member at BNR Newsradio.[1]

In the past, she also regularly joined Mart Smeets as a table lady at the Evening stage of the NOS. Renate thinks sport is an 'opera d'arte': a performance like life itself, which revolves around profit, loss, pride, beauty, corruption, joy and sorrow.

Background

Renate Verhoofstad grew up in De Hoef and had a passion for sports from an early age. From her bedroom window she hears RKC Waalwijk games, she plays Hockey herself and her grandmother in particular knows how to interest her in sports.

Renate attended the Dr. Mollercollege.

She especially remembers Mister Groffen, her Dutch teacher who has been a great incentive to continue in journalism.

After graduating from Moller, she attended the Academy of Journalism and Communication in Tilburg and then joined RTL Sport as a reporter. From 1997 she works as an editor and editor-in-chief for programs such as VPRO's Sportpaleis de Jong and Holland Sport, Studio Spaan of the VARA and is also a freelance writer. Renate lived in Italy from 2003 through early 2011, where she works as a freelance correspondent for Sport1, the NOS, Wieler Revue and Langs de Lijn.[2]

Career

Renate Verhoofstad has a broad experience as an Editor, editor in chief, reporter, researcher and developer of documentaries and television formats in the Mass media.

She is also a writer of (sports) stories and columnist.

Due to work, she lived in Italy between 2003 and 2011 but is currently working as a freelance journalist from the Netherlands.

She has worked for the different associations like VPRO, SkyHigh TV, Endemol Sports, BNN / VARA, RTL, and Avrotros.

She is also the author for the Muur, a Dutch literary magazine about cycling, HELDEN and Santos.

Co-writer of the book '101 years of Quick'.

Working on a book about sports and sports culture in Italy and a children's book.

Also does business presentations.[3]

Personal

Renate Verhoofstad (42 years old) currently lives in Heusden with her husband and children and she only occasionally visits Waalwijk (shopping at Van Dijk, eating at the Italian). In addition to Dutch, Renate also speaks fluent English and Italian language.[4]
