Renata Vinšek

Renata Vinšek is Croatian hairdresser, known as the owner of one of the most prestigious beauty parlours in Zagreb, as well as for being personal hairstylist and close friend of Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.

In late 2019 she created controversy by her remarks directed towards Kim Ann Luzaich, wife of popular singer and presidential candidate Miroslav Škoro.

Biography

Renata Vinšek was born in Zagreb.

She began to work as hairstylist in the salon situated in Frankopanska Street in the centre of the city.

When the owner retired, she bought the salon.

Soon she began to receive customers from nearby theatres and she has gradually built a network of VIP contacts.

Among her customers were President Franjo Tuđman, actress Ena Begović, singers Tereza Kesovija and Sanja Doležal. She retired after forty years of work, and the salon was taken over by her daughter Josipa.

Controversy

On October 27th 2019 Kim Ann Luzaich gave interview to Zagreb daily newspaper Jutarnji list titled "My Miro Will Be New President Because Kolinda, Whom I Had Voted For, Haven't Done Her Job Well"[4]. In it she described her background and family, which included grandfather who was Croatian Serb, as well as her and Škoro having three wedding ceremonies, including one in Serbian Orthodox Church.

Renata Vinšek reacted with the Facebook post linking the article with her own comment saying:

Sad... If you become First Lady of Croatia with Serb blood cells... married in Orthodox church...

That would be world precedent...

And my Croatia and my Croats known as never united...

We will have a Serb woman for First Lady...

Sad.

I can't hide my disappointment...

So, I will go to America where you were during the the war... Tables are turning... It is my time to enjoy and write songs... God and Croats

The post caused condemnation from the large section of Croatian public who accused Vinšek for spurring ethnic hatred.

Vinšek later said that her words were "taken out of the context" before publicly apollogising to Serb minority in Croatia.

She deactivated her Facebook and Instagram profiles soon afterwards.
