Reality Leigh Winner is a 25-year-old who was based in Augusta, Georgia. She was arrested for leaking classified documents to the press. It was later revealed that Reality passed along the documents to The Intercept.

Reality Winner grew up in Kingsville, Texas and graduated from Henrietta M. King High School. She is the daughter of Billie Winner-Davis and the sister of Britty Davis. Reality was close with her family and went shooting with her step-father, Gary Davis. After leaving Texas, Reality was based in Columbia, Maryland for a period of time but moved down to the Atlanta, Georgia area. Reality is a fan of Graham Hancock.

After graduating high school, Reality joined the military.

She served as a linguist in the United States Air Force and was fluent in Farsi, Dari, and Pashto. Reality held top-secret security clearance. Most recently she had been working for Pluribus International Corporation in Augusta.

An athlete, she posted a number of pictures of her active lifestyle.

Reality ran in several races and half marathons and would participate alongside people with disabilities, which she considered a fulfilling experience.

In the North Face Endurance Challenge in 2014, she stated that she took a detour to poop in a bush and hashtagged the occasion #thefunkyshit.

Reality earned her Yoga Teaching Certificate from the Charm City Yoga Center in Maryland. In addition, she taught a CrossFit class The UnderBox Crossfit in Augusta, Georgia. Most recently, in May of 2014 Reality wrote a motivational Instagram post about being a cycling instructor. Reality is the proud owner of two cats and posts pictures of them constantly on her social media accounts. Reality is a vegan.

Reality displayed intense dismay with President Donald Trump. Several tweets from her alleged Twitter account include "the most dangerous entry to this country was the orange fascist we let into the White House" and "#racism that is all." On her Facebook, Reality criticized Trump over the Dakota Access Pipeline and ended her post with #NoDAPL #NeverMyPresident #Resist. Her Facebook also showed that she liked several liberal personalities including Bill Maher, Bernie Sanders, and Stephen Colbert.

Reality was arrested by FBI agents in Georgia for violating Federal law that prohibits the distribution of classified defense information.

Reality obtained the classified documents during her time working for Pluribus International Corporation, a defense and intelligence contractor for the federal government.

An FBI affidavit filed in a Federal Court in Georgia states that Reality “printed and improperly removed classified intelligence reporting, which contained classified national defense information from an intelligence community agency, and unlawfully retained it” and then passed along the information to an unidentified "online news outlet."

Federal investigators began an internal audit of an unnamed intelligence agency after an unidentified online media outlet inquired them for comment about documents they had obtained.

They concluded that Reality was the only employee that printed and emailed the document.

On June 3rd, Reality allegedly admitted sharing the classified information with the online news agency.

Circumstantial evidence suggests that it may be linked to a report published by The Intercept which included a top-secret, five-page report by the National Security Agency that provided “most detailed U.S. government account of Russian interference in the election that has yet come to light.” The Intercept said that the document dated to May 5, 2017, while the FBI affidavit alleges that Reality “printed and improperly removed classified intelligence reporting, which contained classified national defense information and was dated on or about May 5, 2017.” The affidavit does not identify the NSA in the report and The Intercept says that they have no knowledge of the identity of the source of the documents they published.

A cybersecurity website posted evidence linking the documents to Reality.

The writer points out that the printed version that The Intercept published on their website contained invisible yellow dots that can track when and where the documents were printed. Since the NSA logs all printing jobs, it can track exactly who printed the document. After further investigation, the document leaked by the Intercept was from a printer with model number 54, serial number 29535218. The document was printed on May 9, 2017 at 6:20.
