Ray Wimley is a young Hip hop artist living in New Orleans who went viral when rapper Common joined him during a street performance. ^[1][4][2]

Ray Wimley was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and moved to New Orleans to attend college, eventually earning a psychology degree. When he lost his job his wife persuaded him to pursue music. He credits God first for the blessings in his life. ^[3][6]

Wimley can usually be found rapping on the corner of busy Canal Street with a mic, iPod, and amp. He has played extensively with New Orleans band New Thousand, known for their EDM-alternative trap sound. He also plays regularly with a band called The Harbinger Project. ^[5]

Ray Wimley was busking for cash on a busy street corner when Chicago rap legend, Common, approached him. At first, Common just listened and let Ray demonstrate his talent while onlookers gathered. Common then took the mic and spat a little fire of his own. The video has been shared thousands of times on social media. ^[7]
