Raquel (Telenovela)

Raquel was a telenovela from Venezuela produced by RCTV and broadcast from 1973 to 1975.[1] It was written by Inés Rodena based on two of her radio telenovela's from Cuba before her exile: the first is Muchachas de hoy and the second is Cuando se regala un hijo. The success of this melodrama was such that it lasted for 2 years on the air.[2]

Versions

  • In 1979, the second part of Inés Rodena's radio telenovela, Cuando se abandona un hijo, was produced. It was called Los Ricos También Lloran with Verónica Castro and Rogelio Guerra.

  • In 1980 a counterpart to the telenovela Raquel was produced, called Verónica, in which the whimsical girl is the villain of the story, starring Julissa and Ricardo Blume.

  • In 1988 a version based on the original story was made, called Abigaíl with Catherine Fulop and Fernando Carrillo.

  • In 1995 María la del Barrio was produced with Thalía and Fernando Colunga, which is a version of Los ricos también lloran.

  • In 1997, Televisa produced a version based on the telenovela Veronica called Sin ti with Gabriela Rivero and René Strickler.

  • In 1999, a version called Luisa Fernanda was made with Scarlet Ortiz and Guillermo Pérez.

  • In 2005, a version of this telenovela called Os Ricos Também Choram, starring Márcio Kieling and Thaís Fersoza, was released by SBT in Brazil.

  • In 2006, the telenovela Marina, starring Sandra Echeverría and Mauricio Ochmann, was made through Telemundo.
