Raphael Arar is a Designer and Researcher for the IBM Almaden Research Center.  He is based in San Jose, California .  Arar was selected to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2017 for the Enterprise Technology category. 
Early in his career, Arar was a Freelance Designer for Google and the Smithsonian .  He later became the Lead Creative Designer for Kadenze and Art & Technology Fellow for the California Institute of the Arts.  He was a Lecturer for two years at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts and first joined IBM in 2014 as a Product & UX Design Lead and created an enterprise partnership between Apple and IBM.  He was later promoted in early 2016 to become a Designer & Researcher for the IBM Almaden Research Center.  In January 2017, Arar became a lecturer for the San Jose State University CADRE Laboratory for New Media. 
Arar's artwork has been shown at museums, conferences, festivals and galleries internationally including the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA), ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, Gamble House Museum, Boston Cyberarts Gallery, and Athens Video Art Festival. 
Commercially, he has worked with clients including Apple Inc , Google , The Smithsonian and Children’s Hospital.  His design work has been awarded through MITX and The Webby Awards and has been featured in sources including The New York Times , The Los Angeles Times , Communication Arts Magazine and Forbes .
