Randell Minott, also known by his monker, Jimmy Spliff, is an American Emcee and Disc jockey of Dancehall and Reggae events that take place around the East Coast United States. ^[14]

Born and raised in that state of New Jersey, he grew up in the city of East Orange for most of his life. ^[7]

Randell goes by the moniker, Jimmy Spliff, in the Reggae club and music scene throughout the United States, Britain, and Jamaica- the places where they most play his mixes on the radio. ^[0]

He has participated in number of competitions throughout the years, winning several of them.

He is a part of the King Shine International group of Djs who usually battle with other factions and groups at events and shows.

In early September, 2017, Randell was pulled over by a police officer for making an illegal turn.

As the police officer approached Jimmy Spliff, he pulled out his gun on him.

In the next instance, Jimmy Spliff begins video recording the incident on Facebook live.

As soon as he begins recording, Jimmy Spliff begins to berate the cop non stop.

The cop stands outside of the car in plain view of the camera frame as Jimmy Spliff puts himself in the frame as well, selfie mode, as he endlessly bashes the cops with insults.

“A turn signal not made is a big enough of a crime for you to feel like you need to take out your service pistol, right?

Right?...

Big fucking crime... I turn around to a fucking gun pointed in my face!...

You pointed your gun at me.

Do you feel empowered?...You see what the fuck going on on TV?”^[10]

The video has since gone viral after users posted it on Twitter and Instagram. Many consider Jimmy Spliff a hero for expressing the sentiments that the rest of the people in the black community who have experienced similar injustice can relate to. ^{[1] [2] [3]}

Randell Minott at one point in his life had cancer, and beat it.
