Rahmael Sal Holt is an American career criminal wanted for the murder of Westmoreland County , New Kensington Police Officer, Brian Shaw. ^{[0] [3] [1]}

In 2007, he was arrested in Wilkinsburg and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm.

He was arrested on the same charge later in the year by Wilkinsburg police, was convicted and then sentenced to serve two years probation, according to court documents.

A jury acquitted him of a charge of possession of an unlicensed gun in 2008.

In 2011, Holt was sentenced to two years probation after pleading guilty to resisting arrest, tampering with evidence, disorderly conduct and simple assault for an incident that happened in Wilkinsburg.

Holt was sentenced to serve 2-4 years in state prison in 2012, according to court documents, after pleading guilty to several drug charges in Pittsburgh.

On Friday evening, November 17th, 2017, as Officer Shaw did a traffic stop, Holt and Shaw had a struggle.

Holt then took off on foot with Officer Shaw in pursuit.

As Shaw ran after him, he was shot.

The shooting occurred at 8:07 p.m. near the 1200 block of Leishman Avenue.

Officer Shaw was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On November 21, 2017, Holt was taken into custody.

Marshals, Allegheny County Police and the Pittsburgh SWAT team all surrounded his home in Hazelwood.

He came out of the house and surrendered peacefully.

The handcuffs used on Holt belonged to Officer Brian Shaw.
