Career
Rachel Scott (Journalist) started her career in 2011 as an Intern at KTLA 5 News. From 2013 to 2014, she was a Current Events Director at University of the Sunshine Coast Political Student Assembly. From 2012 to 2015, she served as a writer for KCBS. Later, she worked as an Executive producer at Trojan Vision television and Annenberg TV News.[3]

The impressive dedication to her work that Rachel has brought to Washington was also evident in her earlier assignments: While producing full-time for GMA Digital last year, Rachel took on an additional role as a weekend general assignment reporter for WTNH-TV, ABC’s New Haven, CT affiliate, where Rachel honed her on-air reporting skills.
On July 20, 2020, Scott was promoted to White House Correspondent and D.C. Correspondent.[29] ABC News President James Goldston sent the following note to the news division:

Throughout the 2020 presidential campaign, Rachel has logged thousands of miles covering both the Democratic primary and President Trump’s re-election efforts.
During the primaries, Rachel interviewed nearly every Democratic candidate, including in November when she sat down with Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for a joint network exclusive interview during Ocasio-Cortez’s first trip to Iowa ahead of the caucuses.
Rachel has also been an essential part of our team covering the Trump administration, both at the White House and on the campaign trail, where she’s covered nearly every Trump rally this cycle.
She also reported on Trump’s impeachment trial earlier year, including interviewing Vice President Mike Pence on the day of the final impeachment vote.
Beyond politics, Rachel has made her mark with compelling reporting from the frontlines of the biggest stories in recent memory.
During the nationwide protests following the death of George Floyd, Rachel was with the protestors outside the White House near Lafayette Park, telling the stories of the movement and its new leaders.
She also reported live from Tulsa’s historic Greenwood neighborhood during our Juneteenth special, then reported from outside the BOK Arena the following day during President Trump’s first campaign rally since the pandemic started.
She reported extensively for ABC News Live on COVID-19’s disproportionate impact on diverse communities.
She also reported for ABC News from Alabama in the aftermath of the state’s deadly tornadoes in 2019 and covered the aftermath of Hurricane Irma in Florida.

Rachel moved down to DC in January 2019 as a Producer on our White House team, before becoming our Trump campaign embed and then transitioning to on-camera reporting full time. Over the course of 2020 alone, Scott delivered in-depth ground coverage of nationwide Black Lives Matter protests on Racism and Police brutality, as well as provided coverage on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic’s effect on Black and minority communities. She also reported on the 2020 presidential primaries in key battleground states, covered President Donald Trump’s impeachment trials, and obtained network exclusive sit-down interviews with Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in Iowa.[30]
George Floyd Coverage
In June 2020, Scott spoke about what it's like to be a Black TV journalist, covering protests after George Floyd's death. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said:
What are the challenges and advantages of being a Black journalist, both when covering stories about police violence and more broadly?
- I'm often confused as a protestor, along with my Black producer, who is out in the field with me.
You have these moments where you are making sure you are either slowly reaching for your press ID that's on your belt, or communicating in a way that doesn't cause or raise any tension.[28]
