Preston "P-Stone" Maigetter was a legendary American Skateboarding Videographer and Entrepreneur who worked for Thrasher (magazine) since the early days.
Biography
Early Life
Born and raised in the United States East Coast, Preston lived and grew up around the city of Boston, Massachusetts. He also lived in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Education
According to web sources, around the time that he attended college, he began experimenting with videography.
He enjoyed skateboarding with his friends, so he made feature videos, documentary style.
Career
After graduating from college, he worked for different places and friends have said how he had slept in their couch while he was putting together his production company.
He was a maverick in skate videography with over 200 videos filmed and edited for Thrasher. He has also made over 20 full-length videos. After 15 years
of filming, editing, sales and promotion in both national and international settings he has also elevated the video skating industry with a layer of professionalism in great cameras, lighting, sound and Final Cut Pro skills.
He was also a consultant in budget and manage project workflow is all part of it.
He also interacted with external product sponsors, advertisers, and distributors.
P-Stone Productions
In 1996, he started his own production business.
He was responsible for all production, editing, promotion & sales of videos/ DVD's.
He created distribution channels for sales in Canada, Europe, South America, Japan & USA.
During this time he also filmed full-length video for Powell Skateboards in Italy, Spain, Australia, Canada, England & USA.
Provided technical support for Vertical Technik in Basel, Switzerland.
Thrasher Magazine
Over the years, he was at the forefront of redefining Skateboarding media along with creative and talented athletes he would often collaborate with. He saw distinct generations of skateboarders rise and ride their career as he and his camera crew did their best to capture their most amazing moments. He was responsible for coaching and developing local and global talent in the skateboard industry. [1]
Videography
P-Stone conceptualized, shot, edited and produced high-quality HD videos for Thrasher Magazine.
He also created over 200 online videos which showcase events, news and lifestyle.
He prepared videos for posting on the homepage and YouTube.
Although he had appeared to have quite the outgoing personality and hedonist swagger, he was a hardworking producer who constantly demonstrated the ability to adhere to deadlines with short turnaround times.
He also created and maintain video library and archive and managed interns to digitize content from Thrasher Magazine’s 20 years of producing videos.
Content Manager
He also accompanied photographers and writers on assignments to cover events and artists and coordinated content with the team of copy editors, web editors, writers, social media editors, photographers and motion-graphic designer.
Assist with audio-visual equipment and the facilitation of events.
He organize trips with representatives from global brands (shoes, clothing, skateboards).
He motivated and managed teams while finding film locations and handling logistics.
Promote and represent the magazine brand worldwide.
Build & maintain relationships with advertisers.
Sponsorships
Interact with external project sponsors (Red Bull Energy Drink, Monster Energy Drink, Converse Shoes, Nike Footwear, Vans Footwear, Sole Technology, Globe Footwear, Blackstar Beer, and all major skateboard brands) to produce web & video content promoting their brands.
Directed, filmed and edited over 20 full-length skateboard videos.
Death
On August 30th, 2017, somewhere at night in Seattle, P-Stone rode in a vehicle with professional skateboarder Cory Kennedy and Kennedy's roommate. Cory crashed the car into a guardrail and a tree on Vashon island. The crashed occurred somewhere near the Southwest Bank Road and Thorson Road about 10:14 p.m.
Kennedy is currently being investigated for driving under the influence.
He has since been released from jail.

Thrasher, the magazine that P-Stone worked for, put together an article commemorating P-Stone's life.
