Corporal Bill Cooper has been employed with the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office since 2001 and served five years with the Fort Smith Police Department.

Corporal Cooper also served with the United States Marine Corp. [3]

Death

On August 10, 2016 Corporal Cooper was shot in the neck by Billy Monroe Jones.

[0]Jones barricaded himself inside a home on Highway 253 and Boone Road causing a standoff with police for hours.

A negotiation took place and the authorities convinced him to come out with his hands up.

The officers claim that he wanted to cause a "ruckus" prior to his court appearance.
