Since the Spring/Summer 1989 collection presented in October 1988 in Paris, Issey Miyake has shown many pieces of uniquely pleated clothing.

The research for these designs is constantly being updated to further develop and improve both the clothings form and function.

One of its results was pleated jersey, shown as a part of the Fall/Winter 1991 collection in March 1991.
