Peter Oppermann is a German Meditation Coach based in Santa Monica known for using science and technology to innovate mindfulness meditation through the "Future Self" method.

Biography
Early Life

Growing up as a teenager, he discovered Autogenic Relaxation, a self-relaxation technique that helped him overcome a stuttering he developed due to his parent's divorce.
Education
After high school, Oppermann attended and graduated with a Dipl.-Ing in Mechanical engineering from Technische Universität Berlin.
Career

After many years of working as a mechanical engineer in Germany, he decided to leave his promising career in order to follow his spiritual destiny.
He decided to use his entrepreneurial skills in 1996 and started a business based on the concept of mindfulness meditation at the work place.
Karmabuilders
In the late 1990s, Oppermann settled in New York City where he studied and developed meditation techniques based around helping people reach a profound sense of peace and clarity.
He would do this while also continuing his woodworking business.
He would later found Karmabuilders, which was one of his first meditation ventures in the United States.
The social enterprise of Karmabuilders consisted of teaching ex-prisoners mindfulness and job skills.
Shoji Living
He would also venture into another meditation practice called Shoji Living in New York.
Teaching & Practice
From the late 1990s onward, Oppermann would go on to practice with well-known meditation experts such as Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein, Lama Surya Das, and Geshe Michael Roach- among many others.
