On May 27, 2012, Payal Agrawal Divakarin married her husband Dr. Sanjay Divakaran in a Hindu wedding ​ at the Seaport World Trade Center ​ in Boston. The couple met while they were both students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ​. [5]

Payal grew up with a passion for sports and has always been a fan of Boston area sports teams including the Boston Red Sox ​ and the New England Patriots ​. In high school, she worked as a Certified Soccer Referee. She also danced for a professional Bhangra (dance) ​ team. [2]

Prior to HBS, Payal was an Associate at Spectrum Equity ​, a technology growth equity investor in Boston with $5.7B under management. She sourced and executed on deals in the software, information services, data/analytics, security and internet spaces.
