Paul Sonne is an American journalist. Paul Sonne is currently a national security reporter for theWashington Post .

Early Life & Education
Sonne is an alumnus of Columbia University, graduating in 2007 with a degree in Russian literature. He later attained his M.Phil in Russian and East European Studies from the University of Oxford in 2009.
Career
Paul Sonne started his career as an intern for theNew York Times and theAssociated Press .
Sonne spent 9 years at the the Wall Street Journal; during his tenure, he was based in London and Moscow. [1] While in Moscow, he covered Vladimir Putin, the 2014 Winter Olympics, and the Russian military intervention in Ukraine. Before that, Sonne wrote political, general news and corporate stories out of the Journal's bureau in London.
Since joiningtheWashington Post in 2018, he has covered the U.S. military and writes about defense policy at The Pentagon.
Awards & Accomplishments
In 2011, Paul Sonne was a recipient of the Overseas Press Club Malcolm Forbes Award for best international business reporting. He also won the Society of American Business Editors and Writers Best in Business award.
In 2008, he was granted the Overseas Press Club Stan Swinton Scholarship.
