Parag Agrawal is an Indian software engineer. He is currently the Chief Technology Officer of Twitter.[2] [7] [1]
Early Life & Education
Parag Agrawal attended the Atomic Energy Central School. He later graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay with a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering.[1]
Subsequently, he earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from Stanford University. While studying at Stanford, he worked as a research intern for Microsoft, Yahoo!, and AT&T Labs.[1]
Career
As a student, Agrawal worked in the research departments of Microsoft, Yahoo!, and AT&T Labs. [1] After graduating from Stanford, Parag Agrawal joined Twitter as an ads engineer. He served in that position from October 2011 to October 2017.[1]
On March 8, 2018, it was publicly announced that Twitter promoted Agrawal to CTO; he succeeded Adam Messinger, who left the company in December 2016.[4] His appointment was announced internally in October 2017.[3] His early work as CTO was dedicated to increasing the relevance of tweets in Twitter timelines through the use of artificial intelligence. A Twitter spokesperson told CNBC: [3]
