Pablo Lucio Vasquez
Pablo Lucio Vasquez
Pablo Lucio Vasquez, also known as "Vampire Killer" was a convicted criminal from Donna, Texas.
Allegations
On April 18, 1998, Vasquez murdered his 15 year old cousin.
Before leaving a party in Donna, Texas, Vasquez got drunk and high off drugs.Vasquez later would tell detectives that as they reached a wooden shed, he started hearing voices telling him to kill the younger boy, David Cardenas. So he hit the seventh-grader in the head from behind with a pipe, cut his throat and lifted the still-conscious victim so blood would drip on the then 20-year-old Vasquez’s face.
Vasquez said at one point he tried to remove the boy's head with a shovel and also took the boy's jewelry.
He said the "devil" and other voices urged him on during the crime.
Robbery became the prosecution's official motive, although police speculate that the killing was linked to an occult ritual.
David Cardenas' body was found under aluminum slabs in a vacant field on April 22.
The boy had been scalped, both his arms and a foot were cut off and some of his teeth were missing.
In February 1999, Vasquez was sentenced to the death penalty.
Death
On April 6, 2016 Vasquez was executed by lethal injection(Pentobarbital) in Huntsville, Texas.
Vasquez's last words were, "See you on the other side".
