Bah was arrested at his home in November as a suspect in a string of thefts. He has been charged in multiple jurisdictions including Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York. While three of the cases have been dropped the one in New Jersey is still pending.
Bah's defense is that his interim driver learner's permit may have been stolen and used as identification in an Apple store, unwittingly linking Bah's information in the company's security system. This means that every time the perpetrator walks into a store his face would register as Bah.
The lawsuit alleges that Bah:
was forced to respond to multiple false allegations which led to severe stress and hardship in his life, and also significant damage to his positive reputation that he had put so much effort into upholding
The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
