Open Source Social Network, also called OSSN, is a Distributed social network Open-source software Social networking (disambiguation) web software application. It has the features of a typical social networking service which can be used to start a private social network. The platform allows users to make friends, connect with other users, join groups and post updates. It can be used for educational, commercial or personal purposes. 
History and background
Founded in 2014, Open Source Social Network was initially released with GNU General Public License but later changed to its own license called the open-source social network license ().The versions from 1.x to 3.x were not based on Responsive web design . From version 4.0 onwards, which was released in 2015, it provides support for responsive web design.
On 9 September 2015, it was reported that the system search feature had two Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities  .The research team, after being notified, fixed the issue in version 3.6 which was made available on the same day.
In November 2018, DigitalOcean, a cloud service provider, provided support for Open Source Social Network as a one-click application installation .
Open Source Social Network can be extended via the use of their component API. The website administrator can add or remove new features into the website
