On February 6, 2017, Olivia was shot to death by her roommate Dustin Nichols at the residence in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. ^[0]

Officers found her body inside the house that the two shared on Fairlawn Drive around 11:40 a.m.

She was shot multiple times with a shotgun. ^{[9] [0]}

Nichols told police he had taken LSD around midnight prior to shooting Gonzalez and was under the influence of the drug and marijuana when he shot her. ^{[9] [0]}

He had retrieved a loaded Mossberg 500 pump action 12-gauge shotgun from his bedroom and shot Gonzalez until it was empty. ^{[9] [0]}

Nichols also told police he struck Gonzalez at least three times with the buttstock of the shotgun. ^[9]He also hit her pet cat in the head with a glass marijuana bong prior to the shooting. ^[9]He surrendered to authorities without incident. ^[9]
