On March 6, 2017, Funez Oliver was arrested outside his home in Zebulon, North Carolina. ^[undefined] He had called 911 to his home, and walked out with his mother Yesenia Funez Beatriz Machado's severed head in one hand, and a knife in the other. ^{[undefined] [undefined]}

She had been murdered and decapitated by Oliver. ^[undefined] The incident took place around 1 p.m. at a home at 90 Morgan Drive. ^[undefined] Two young children were at home when the attack happened, while another was at school at the time. ^{[undefined] [undefined]}

Oliver was charged with first degree murder. He appeared in court on March 7, 2017, and was held without bond. ^[undefined]
