Olive is a free open-source software non-linear video editor aiming to provide a fully-featured alternative to high-end professional video editing software. Olive is making rapid progress and users are already producing videos with it however it is still currently in alpha meaning it is incomplete and not fully stable though new features are being added every day. ^[6][9]

Olive aims to provide a fully-featured alternative to Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, and Sony Vegas Pro without compromise. Olive was started in 2018 by MattKC, a YouTuber who is passionate about technology and video games. The project began while its creator was frustrated with the landscape of editing software. Convoluted payment schemes, lack of cross-platform, and just low quality software led him to rekindle an old interest in coding to develop an editor that combined all his favorite features and excluded the bureaucracy. ^[1]

Olive Video Editor later became part of the experimental project called: CREAOSS (Open Source Studio / Blockchain Video Production Platform).
