Officer Justin Martin was a Police officer for the Urbandale Police Department. ^[1] He was hired by the department in 2015.

Martin is a graduate of Simpson College. His faculty advisor Fred Jones commended him by saying “He was a kind, gentle, compassionate man who was always concerned with serving the public,...That’s why he went into police work. He was smart and had great social skills. He just had it all.”

On November 2nd at 1:06 A.M, Officer Martin was sitting in his patrol car at the corner of 70th and Aurora in Urbandale, Iowa when Scott Michael Greene went up to his vehicle and shot him at point blanc range, fatally wounding him Officers have described the incident as an ambush and that no interaction took place between the two. About twenty minutes later, Greene went up to another patrol car and killed Sargent Tony Beminio in Des Moines. Greene surrendered himself to authorities after having seizures at around 9 A.M. and remains in police custody.
