Nicol Kimura

Teresa Nicol Kimura (March 24, 1979 - October 1, 2017) was a resident of Placentia, California. She was one of the 58 victims who was shot and killed in the Mandalay Bay Resort mass shooting on the evening of October 1, 2017.

Personal Life

After Nicol graduated from El Dorado High School, she attended Cal State Fullerton.

Professionally, she worked for the California state government. She was in a tax office for Orange County, working for the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.

She was married at one point in her life, but divorced in 2012.

She did not have any kids, either, but she was considered 'Auntie' to all of her close friends' kids.

She enjoyed going to concerts.

In 2017, she attended at least 15 concerts,

including five over the course of eight days during the summer.

According to one of her friends, Chad Elliott:

[...] She was the life of the party without having to need all of the attention. If she was in the room, your attention was just drawn to her, because of her smile and her laugh. [...] Martha Stewart to shame in party planning. Everything she did was over the top.

On October 1, 2017, Nicol Kimura was killed during a Mandalay Bay Resort mass shooting during the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas.

She was with a group of seven people when the incident took place.

According to one of her friends and attendees of the concert, pastor Ryan Miller, she was fatally shot seconds after the gunfire began.

Chad Elliott, who was also at the concert, stayed behind to shield her from any more bullets:

Eventually, somebody that Iā€™m guessing was a concert-goer came up and said Iā€™m a doctor. And we tried giving her CPR and after a couple attempts, he said there was nothing else we could do.

A GoFundMe page was created in her memory. The fund raised its goal of $50,000 is less than a week.
