Nicholas Flusche was a 26 year-old man from Texas who was shot and killed by a San Francisco Police Officer while he was attempting to attack a Subway employee in the city of San Francisco when he refused the sandwich that he couldn't pay for.

Born in the state of Texas, he grew up in the early part of his life in Decatur, Texas. His family later moved to a town called Muenster, Texas. He was basketball player, and enjoyed to exercise. He also enjoyed the outdoors.

Nicholas was evidently associated with a vehicle repair shop in Decatur, Texas called Flusche Auto Repair Company.

Education

Nicholas attended Texas State University, majoring in business and lived in San Marcos near Austin.

Before moving to San Francisco, Flusche worked for a home security.

Flusche wanted to do something related in business that would solve problems.

His interest was to get into hair regeneration industry and help find a way to solve baldness.

Nicholas had been going bald himself at the time of his death.

Flusche was remembered as someone who is full of ideas and being highly motivated.

He had a great love for his family members, being especially close to his brothers.

In the 3-4 years leading up to his death, Nicholas displayed symptoms of mental illness.

He struggled with psychotic symptoms, including auditory and visual hallucinations.

He also struggled with angry outbursts and delusions.

While living in San Francisco, he was fired from a food service job because he was hallucinating on the job.

Subway Incident

On May the 3rd, 2017, at around 11:15 a.m. on the 900 block of Market, Nicholas entered a Subway restaurant, was made a sandwich, but according to testimony, he refused to pay for it.

The clerk stated that there would be no sandwich without a money transaction.

Nicholas then took his knife and began stabbing the worker.

An officer nearby saw the struggle and shot Nicholas.

A Patrol cop from the area came and asked Nicholas and the bystander to get down on the ground, so the other bystander pushed Nicholas who went in attack mode toward the cop.

Because tasers are illegal in San Francisco, the officer shot him instead of detaining him.

The Subway worker managed to survive the attack, but Nicholas died.

Police held a town hall meeting within 10 days of the attack.

The investigation dragged on for many months, but in the end, the police officer was exonerated.

This officer had a history of attacking individuals with mental illness.
