NetBet is an online sports betting and casino operator which offers an online sportsbook, online casino, online poker, and a live casino, owned by NetBet Enterprises Ltd.[1], The company operates in several markets, including the UK, Germany, Ireland, and many more.

NetBet is offered in English, German, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, French, Greek, Romanian, Portuguese and Finnish languages.

NetBet has offices in the UK, France, Romania the U.S., currently employs around 500 people and is headquartered in Malta.

NetBet has held a European license from Malta since 2006.[2] NetBet is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission 3637 and also holds licenses in Ireland, Nigeria, Mexico, and Greece.

Online casinos in Italy and France also run under the name and brand of NetBet Enterprises.

NetBet obtained a license to operate in Romania in 2015.[3]

History

Cosmo Gaming Company was incorporated in July 2006 and started trading in July 2007.[4] They changed their name from Cosmo Gaming Company to NetBet Enterprises Limited in March 2017.[5] In August 2013, NetBet’s gaming provider, iSoftBet, signed an exclusive deal with SBTech to provide sport and live betting services to the NetBet site.[6]

During Euro 2016, NetBet started the Multicultural Championship.[7] In the same year, NetBet signed a six-year contract with gaming provider, Playtech, in a deal that included exclusive Playtech content.[8]

During the World Cup 2018, NetBet Sport launched a new addition to the ‘Multicultural’ series under the name, The Multicultural Cup.[9]

In 2018, Iron Dog Studio released its entire suite of games with NetBet Casino in an integration facilitated by NetBet’s provider, iSoftBet.[10]

In 2019, NetBet launched an interactive map related to James Bond’s films that was able to trace back old films and anecdotes about them.

In 2015, NetBet.ro provided the online systems for the Pokerfest and Israel Poker Tour 4 Bucharest qualifiers.[12][13][14]

NetBet sponsors several teams, such as OGC Nice in 2014,[17] Steaua Bucaresti in 2015,[18] and AS Saint-Etienne and Hamilton Academicals in 2016.[19][20]

In 2015, they signed a stadium advertising deal with West Bromwich Albion.[21]

In May 2018, NetBet sponsored races for two days at Goodwood Racecourse.[22]

On June 5, 2018, NetBet sponsored four races at Fontwell Park Racecourse.[23]

On June 9, 2018, NetBet sponsored a Bare Knuckle Boxing event, BKB11, at the O2.[24]

Taxi, buses campaigns

In 2019, NetBet launched two mobile advertising campaigns on buses and taxis.

The campaign saw customized buses and 750 Black Cabs adorned with NetBet’s branding take over the streets of London.[26]

He has been the ambassador for NetBet FR since 2014.

Responsible Gaming

NetBet works closely together with counselling services for gambling addiction and allows players to set deposit limits and reality checks for themselves.

The site also offers demo versions of the games, which can be played without wagering real money, and forbids registration of minors.[34]

NetBet have also implemented a self-assessment tool.

This tool is a set of 15 questions that, based on the customers' answers, evaluates their risk level.

Based on this risk level, actions such as imposing a limit are suggested to the customers.

In addition, if a customer's survey result shows risks of addiction, an alert is sent to the responsible gaming team who will interact with the customer and start monitoring his/her activity.

Controversies

NetBet came under fire in 2016 for misleading video advertising.[35] The ASA condemned adverts from a number of gambling organisations, including NetBet, for portraying the outcome of online gambling as a way to increase wealth.

The ASA ruled that the advert must not appear again in that form and for NetBet to ensure all future advertising did not glamorise gambling.[36]
