Nayla Kidd ** is an engineering student at Columbia University. Nayla ran track and did horseback riding in high school, and taught a popular belly-dancing class at Columbia. She also received a Presidential acknowledgement for her academic achievements and has published scientific research.
Disappearance
On May 12, 2016, she was reported missing by her family.
Her mother first suspected something was wrong when she did not hear from Nayla on Mother's Day, and after Nayla's friends confirmed they had not heard from her and Nayla did not show up for her final exams, a campaign was started to locate Nayla with the social media hashtag #findingnayla.
Nayla was last seen studying with friends on Columbia's campus on May 5, 2016.

Found
On the night of Monday May 16, 2016 Nayla Kidd was found according to Columbia University Public Safety.
Nayla had ran away and was renting an apartment in Brooklyn, New York. She was reunited with her mom on Monday May 16, 2016.
“Basically, she just wanted to get away from it all,” said a police source.
“She rented a place in Brooklyn.”
"She didn't want to be at school anymore."
