Naval Ravikant

Naval Ravikant is an Indian American entrepreneur and investor. He is the co-founder, chairman and former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AngelList. He has invested early-stage in over 200 companies including Uber, FourSquare, Twitter, Wish.com, Poshmark, Postmates, Thumbtack, Notion, SnapLogic, Opendoor, Stack Overflow, OpenDNS, Yammer, and Clearview AI, with over 70 total exits and more than 10 Unicorn (finance) companies.

Ravikant is a Fellow of the Edmund Hillary Fellowship.

He is also a podcaster who shares advice on pursuing wealth and happiness.

Early Life

Naval is a native of New York, a place where he grew up for most of his upbringing. He lived in the Lower East Side in Manhattan. [6] [2] He is an alum of Stuyvesant High School, a high school located in New York City. [2] He graduated in 1991. [2]

After finishing High School, he committed to Dartmouth College, where he double majored and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer science and a Bachelor's in Economics. [2][4] He graduated in 1995. [2]

Career

Soon after graduating college, Naval began his process of building his first company.[2] For years he worked as a programmer before becoming the co-founder and Chief executive officer of Epinions in 1999. [2]

After Epinions, he became a venture partner for August Capital until 2004. [2] A few years later he founded vast.com in 2005. [4]

In 2010, he co-founded and became the Chief Executive Officer of AngelList. He later became the Chairman of the company. [2]

Blockchain & Cryptocurrency

Ravikant also serves on the board of the Zcash Foundation. He backed a crypto index fund, Bitwise's HOLD 10 called Blockstack.[16] And, through an AngelList syndicate, Numerai, a hedge fund that uses a cryptocurrency called the Numeraire. He is also involved with other blockchain-based businesses. [16]

Ravikant, who doesn't manage his private crypto holdings himself, invests with crypto hedge funds such as Polychain Capital and MetaStable Capital, the latter of whose investments in the space include storage token Protocol Labs/Filecoin and Basecoin, which is a project attempting to create a stablecoin. [16]

Media appearances

From 2015-2017, Ravikant appeared four times on theTim FerrissShow [26], including on two full-episode interviews with him in October 2015 and February 2016, respectively. Subsequently, he appeared many times on other podcasts such as* Invest Like the Best*,* Spartan Up!*, Venture Studio, the Knowledge Project, and on the Joe RoganExperience podcast.
