Nasreen (Acid attack survivor)
Nasreen is a woman from Lucknow, India, who survived an acid attack from her husband and faced brutal hardships most of her life. She shared her story on MTV Roadies during an audition for the show in 2016 [0].
The candid and remarkably fearless auditionee described how her biological parents gave her up for adoption to her uncle and aunt at a very young age.
Her new family never loved her or cared for her.
In fact, her aunt got her married so she could send her away from the family.
She described her ordeal as the wife of a domestic abuser who later attacked her with a jar of acid when she made it clear that she wanted nothing to do with him.
Nasreen has two daughters who saw their mother being attacked.
Her body was burned from the neck down to her stomach.
After the attack, Nasreen went to her uncle and aunt who not only refused to help her with the treatment but made sure no relatives would help her.
Nasreen described how she had to take refuge in a Ruin because nobody could bear the smell coming from her wounds and passersby would sometimes help her with her treatment. She goes on to describe waking up in her own Pus and watching ants infest her body.
Incredibly, despite the hardships, Nasreen went through 8 operations alone by borrowing money from wherever she could arrange.
When the doctors told her that she may not survive she requested that if she died during the treatment, they bury her in accordance with her Muslim faith.
I felt broken, but never defeated.

Nasreen could not be considered for the Roadies show as she needed her doctor's clearances but MTV has said that once she has fully recovered she will be welcome to participate. Neha Dhupia has reportedly pledged to help Nasreen in any way she can. She also revealed that MTV had shown only a very small part of the audition. Nasreen's audition reportedly lasted around 2 hours [2].

I have never felt so welcoming like the way I felt during my auditions for Roadies.
It's my appeal to everybody out there to not let your weaknesses take over your life.
I hope I inspire others to shed their inhibitions and become their own hero.
In fact I already feel like a Roadie [3].
