Officer Nakia Jones was the first black female police officer of the Warrensville Police Department, a town around 15 miles southeast of Cleveland.

Jones has been a police officer since 1996.

She is married to Kevin Jones, a fellow police officer and former firefighter.

The couple has a young daughter.

On July 6, Nakia's video on Facebook in response to the Alton Sterling shooting went viral. ^[undefined] In the video, Nakia decries violence within the black community, but says police violence is on another level.
