Myron Jarrett was an 8-year veteran of the Detroit Police Department.

He is the father of 4 children, one of which has special needs.

On the evening of October 28th, Jarrett and another officer were responding to a call at a traffic stop near the intersection of Puritan Avenue and Monica Street.

When Jarrett was re-entering his patrol car, a van that was speeding hit Jarrett and several other vehicles.

^[1]The man who drove the van, Steven Guzina, fled the scene but was arrested at a bus stop hours later.

Jarrett was pronounced dead at the hospital.

His partner suffered minor injuries.
