History

MONA originated on the Japanese Imageboard 2chan. Each coin was under $1, trading as low as $0.02 per coin.

There are ATM Machines that exchange Japanese yen bills which largely led to the popularization of MonaCoin.

Japan has legalized all cryptocurrency payments, which makes it legal to now accept cryptocurrency as a means of payment in stores/restaurants/business.
