Miosotis Familia was an American police officer based in Bronx, New York. ^[0]

She was a 12 year veteran assigned to the 46th Precinct's Anti Crime unit.

On July 5, 2017, Alexander Bonds approached Officer Familia at 12:30 a.m., as she sat inside a temporary headquarters vehicle at East 183rd Street and Morris Avenue in Fordham Heights and shot her in the head. ^{[1] [0] [6]}

As officers confronted him a block away, he drew a revolver. The officers fired at him, striking and killing him. ^{[1] [0] [6]}

Officer Familia was rushed by her fellow officers to Saint Barnabas Medical Center, where she died from her wounds. ^{[1] [0] [6]}

An innocent bystander was also shot in the stomach.
