Minguell Kennedy Lembrick was a career criminal who is no longer on the run in Americus, Georgia for shooting two police officers, killing one on December 7, 2016.
Killing of Police Officer
At around 9:30a.m.,
Lembrick shot dead an Americus cop, Nicholas Smarr and left Georgia Southwestern State University campus officer Jody Smith in the hospital after they responded to a domestic dispute call in the area.
Officer Smith passed away from his injuries on December 8, 2016.
Police launched a manhunt to bring in Lembrick, who was on the run.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation offered a $70,000 reward leading to his arrest.

Lembrick has previous open felony warrants on charges including kidnapping.
Death
On December 8, 2016, authorities staked out at a home in Americus, Georgia where Minguell was believed to be hiding. Rather than being taken into custody, Lembrick shot himself. [1]
