Mike is a native of the town of Northway where he also attended and graduated from Walter Northway School. [1]
He is a retired teacher.
Education
After high school, he attended University of Alaska Fairbanks with a degree in Elementary education. [1]

On the weekend of September 29th, 2017, Mike and his girlfriend went on a trip to Las Vegas for a birthday trip party. A part of the birthday celebrations involved attending the Route 91 Harvest country music festival. [undefined] [undefined]
On Sunday night of the festival, Jason Aldean, who was the last act to perform took the stage. Mike and his friend Rob attended the show as Mike's girlfriend decided to head back to her hotel room as she wasn't feeling very good. [undefined]
Mike and Ron were victims of the Mass shooting perpetrated by Stephen Paddock during the festival. As the shots rained down on the crowd, and began to ran, Rob was shot in the chest three times. Mike, along with EMT and ex-military people helping compress the wounds and moving him over to the fence right underneath the stage. [undefined]
As the shooting continued, Mike did his part in helping people to safety.
He and others loaded four injured people onto a pick-up truck and later one into ambulances.
There was a young man whom Mike tried to save that died in his arms.
His friend Rob was able to get medical attention and is now in stable condition.
