Michael Smith was a police officer for the Dallas Police Department for over 2 decades. He was shot and killed by Micah Johnson in the 2016 Dallas Police Protest Shooting.
Personal Life
Michael Smith grew up in Port Arthur, Texas and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He then joined the U.S. Army and became an Army Ranger. After leaving the armed forces he attended Lamar Institute of Technology and then became a police officer.
He was married to Heidi Smith and had two daughters.
They lived in Dallas, Texas.
Death
He was shot and killed on July 7, 2016 by Micah Johnson along with four other police officers during the 2016 Dallas Police Protest Shooting.
His family started a Go Fund Me to help cover his funeral expenses. [1]
