Michael S. Laufer, spelled Mixæl in the biohacker world, is an American Professor of Mathematics who is considered an Anarchist for the way in which he is disrupting the medical field by providing his own insight and practices in Biohacking.
Biography
When Michael was a young boy, he traveled back and forth from the United States to Europe.
Education
Michael attended Sonoma State University where he received his dual Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics. He specialized in Theoretical physics and Mure mathematics.
He would go on to attend CUNY for five years and receive his PHD in Mathematics. He studied mathematical models of the standard model of particle physics.
Career

Michael Laufer explains how to make a DIY Epipen he calls, EpiPencil.
During his time as a post-grad student, he also lived in El Salvador for several years as a volunteer with aid workers. During his time there he discovered that the
shortages to medical supplies were actually essential items that could and should be found in any country.
Among the generic medicines were antibiotics and birth control pills.
The conditions he witnessed led to a realization of how unjust the medical industry is.
That moment began to haunt him for years.
After graduating, he decided to help disenfranchised patients develop a modicum of self sufficiency when it came to essential medicines.
Professor
In 2016, he became a full-time professor at Menlo College teaching Mathematics. He is also a visiting teacher at San Quentin Prison.

Michael, who spells his name as, "Mixæl", in the biohacking community, is a known figure in the alt-medical field who instructs patients how to make their medicines.
EpiPencil
Mixæl is known for developing his own version of the Epipen that he has shown others how to put together on their own without spending close to $800 to buy the device. Mixæl shows people how to build one DIY for about $35.
Personal Life
Mixæl identifies himself as an Anarchist for the way in which he subverts a pillar of global capitalism, the Pharmaceutical industry, by teaching the poor to make their own medicines — with antipathy toward the pharmaceutical industry patents.
As a professor who identifies as an anarchist, he actually wears a suit to indicate to his students a sign of respect and that he is serious about his job.
When he goes to teach at San Quentin Prison, he wears his regular, casual clothes.
