Attempted Date Rape

On May 29, 2016 at about 5 p.m while on a date Michael Hsu slipped a unknown drug into a woman's drink inside the Fig restaurant in Santa Monica's Fairmont hotel in an attempted date rape. ^[4]

Three women who were friends, Marla Saltzer, Monica Kenyon and Sonia Ulrich worked together to alert the authorities and the woman, Michael targeted.

Monica Kenyon was the first to notice that Michael was looking suspicious, then saw Michael unscrew a black vial and drop something in his date's drink while she was in the bathroom.

Sonia went to find the woman in the bathroom who was shocked since she worked with Michael and they had known each other for more than a year.

Marla alerted their server who spoke to a manager and reported the crime to the police.

By 6:23 p.m., police had reviewed restaurant surveillance video and arrested Michael Hsu.

Michael Hsu was arrested on suspicion of drugging with intent to commit a felony and is currently being held on $1 million.
