Michael DeNardo
Michael DeNardo was the Chief of Police of the Bay St Louis Police Department in Mississippi.
He started his position in 2010 and was known by his colleagues for his dedication to his work.
[2] Prior to his work as the police chief in Bay St. Louis, he worked in the police force in Slidell, LA., and he was a United States Marine retiree.
Mr. DeNardo was the father of one son, and grandfather of three.
Death
On September 8, 2016, DeNardo committed suicide in the parking lot of city's police department around 3 p.m.
He was alert while being loaded into the ambulance, but at 3:15 p.m. he died on the way to the hospital.
[3]The incident happened shortly after officials suspended him over an ongoing investigation of an issue which resulted in him having to turn in his police-issued equipment.
[5]He shot himself in the chest with his personally-owned shotgun which was kept in the trunk of his car.
