Michael Ameri
Michael Ameri
Michael Ameri was a New York local who joined the NYPD in 1993 and was the commanding officer of the 78th precinct in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York.
The FBI claims to be investigating the potential connection between Jeremy Reichberg, Jona Rechnitz, and their donations to Mayor Bill de Blasio in conjunction with supposed favors in return from the NYPD.
During April and May at least 9 high-ranking police officers were demoted due to alleged connections to this fraud and Ameri was interviewed multiple times by the FBI investigators.
Ameri supposedly believed he would be demoted and the anxiety of this process led to his suicide.
Ameri was well known for largely instituting Vision Zero, a traffic initiative from Mayor Bill de Blasio, aiming to reduce the number of reckless drivers.
