In July 2015, Micah Green founded Maidbot, a hardware company that creates automated hotel cleaning robots.
Aimed to revolutionize the hospitality industry, he founded the company while in his college dorm room.
After speaking with several experts in the hospitality industry, he realized there were common issues across most hotels.
He realized three main issues:
Housekeeping is the highest variable cost.
While wages and costs increase, revenue continues to stay steady.
Secondly, room attendants have the highest rate of injury in the entire service sector.
There is an inconsistency of cleaning.
While cleanliness is considered one of the most important factors in hotel experience, most hotels do not live up to people's standards.
Inspired by The Jetsons , Green created his first robot, 'Rosie.' It is designed to cut time cleaning floors, decrease worker injury, and collect data. Green's vision is to create a suite of mechanical helpers in the hospitality industry.
Lecturer
In 2017, Green guest lectured at his alma mater, Cornell University. He gave presentations for an Executive MBA course entitled 'Entrepreneurship of Physical Products' as well a 'Technological Change at Work' class.
