Biography
Mia Gradney is a native of Houston, United States. Mia Gradney is an Emmy Award-winning talent and the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. anchor at KHOU 11 News in Houston, Texas. She is one of Houston's Top 30 Influential Women for 2019.[22]
In the middle of shows, she is always busy producing and hosting special Eye-Opener segments like the educative yet highly entertaining Parent Panic Meter as well as the star-studded Mia at the Movies.[17]
Mia Gragney is also the force behind Television specials for her home station CW 39. As executive producer and host, she has gladly helped the station address such community issues as adoption and joblessness.[1]
One of her defining career moments came when she explored Houstonians through one of our nation’s most catastrophic natural disasters, Hurricane Harvey, with almost 138 non-stop hours of airtime despite the flooding and evacuation of KHOU 11’s building.
The breaking news coverage was later recognized with an Edward R. Murrow Award.[20]
Career
Mia Gradney began her profession at the Houston’s CW 39 where she shows cased glimpses of her potential as the host and anchor.
She provided reports for the local station and station group.
She got her beginning in television in Houston off the camera as a writer and production assistant.
Gradney Mia made the transition to on-air talent with career stops in Victoria and Beaumont before returning to her hometown of Houston to anchor, report, and produce special programming and news.[21]
In 2005, she began field reporting about evacuations due to Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.[20]
Mia Gradney within 10 years, has covered everything from historic hurricanes to significant Hollywood red carpet occasions and national sports championships. She specializes in breaking news/continuous coverage and special events with interests in women empowerment and work status, health & wellness, and sports entertainment.
Her hard work attitudes have helped her to become one of the contenders of EMMY awards, but she didn’t get her hands on the prestigious award until 2011.
Awards
Mia Gradney's half-hour special about the country of Costa Rica and environmental efforts by unsuspecting residents garnered her two Emmy awards in 2011.[1]
She won another in 2010 for her high energy high fashion runway special edition of Mia's Style Files.
Mia has received Lone Star Emmy nominations for a special Medical journalism and a half-hour employment special.
In 2019, Mia Gradney was decorated as one of the thirty most influential women in Houston.
Trivia
Mia Gradney is married to Troy C. Clendenin, and they have one daughter together.
Mia Gradney has also proven her dedication to her local community and hometown by serving as an ambassador, active volunteer, and co-founder of Women of Wardrobe (WOW).[23]
