Personal Life
Merinda Valley was born in Illinois and grew up in a small town in Michigan. She later moved to Calumet, Michigan to attend Michigan State University. Her family is originally from Honiara, Solomon Islands. [3]Merinda has a passion for International Development and helping bringing cultures together. She first became passionate about this issue after seeing the economic inequality in the Solomon Islands during a family visit at the age of 5. [7] [3]
Career
Merinda reporting in the field
Merinda is currently a contributor at the Goethe institute working on social development in the Solomon Islands. She is also currently working as a reporter for the Island Sun, a newspaper based out of Honaira. [2]
Merinda has also worked for a variety of news outlets including The Arab American News, Asian American Journalists Association, The State News, and the Jackson Citizen Patriot (MLive). [2]

Merinda graduated in 2015 from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Arabic, and International Development. She was involved in the school's yearbook, International Development club and also worked as an author for the MSU's journalism school. [2]
Disappearance
Merinda Valley was reported missing and was last seen on May 24, 2017 Merinda Valley in Calumet, Michigan. She has not been heard from or seen since She is believed to be driving a white Toyota Rav 4 SUV. [1]
The Houghton County Sheriff's Office says Merinda Valley is safe.
She was reported missing Monday May 24, 2017 night.
Authorities say Valley's father called the sheriff's office at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, saying that his daughter had returned home.
Jeffrey Valley said that she did not say where she was for the past few days, but did say she was home and safe.
